Story Paragraph

My potato sack story is a little bit more stressing the unknown. The goals and obstacles are somewhat unknown to the sack but are very well knwon to the viewer. So, as far as personality goes, my potato sack would be considered somewhat aloof and oblivious to what is going on around him. The scene opens up with a shot of a pantry door. The door opens and slouched on the floor is a sack of potatoes. The sack begins to wiggle and come alive as if out of a deep sleep. The sack then pokes his head out of the door and scans the kitchen area. At this point the sack is playful and curious, wanting to explore. After checking if the coast is clear, the sack then decides that it is safe enough to take a stroll around the house, but little does he know that an evil potato masher is stalking him. This is where the unknown goal and obstacle come into play. The sack doesn't know he is being stalked. I would say that his goal is to escape being mashed by the masher, his obstacle is his oblivious mind set and also the masher. His resolution will be to figure out a way to fool the masher. So, for the next shot the stalking is just built up with music. The potato sack looks over his shoulder once as if to almost be feeling the presence of the masher, but when he does the masher simply plays dead. The potato sack then turns a corner, the masher thinks he has the sack trapped. However, when the masher jumps around the corner there is no one there. Confused, the masher begins to look around, suddenly the sack drops from the sky onto the masher. The potato sack knew what was going on after all.

Locomotion Project Idea

After discussing all the possible ideas I could do for my spider model I began to come up with my own inspiration. In a previous class we were introduced to a video of mechanical spider-like machine that could teach itself to walk. It was an extremely disturbing video as you watched this helpless little robot go through all the forms of walking until it finally realized what worked best. I felt this was the first step towards the reality of The Terminator. So, I figured if I could be so moved by such a concept then it must be worth exploring more. So my locomotion idea is simple, but just simple enough that I will not be over whelming myself. The basic essence of the video is simply watching my spider model walk down a dimply lit hallway. However, I need something to make my video interesting. It was then that I decided on playing off this idea of mechanical things having feelings and being felt for in return. So, as my spider walks one by one his legs will undergo some mysterious form of mechanical failure. Thus forcing the viewer to watch this little machine struggle to support itself and then eventually die. What makes this a good concept in my mind is that no one should really care about this machine because it is just that, a machine. But as technology advances and newer robots are being created with such life like movements and reactions it will begin to usher in a totally new age for humanity. What will be real and what will be fake. It is extremely frightening to think about but also extremely intriguing.

First Post for 3D Animation

Hi everyone this is my first post for the introduction to 3D animation class. Part of this post was supposed to be dedicated to uploading my Op Art images; however, I have already uploaded them so if you want to view them you should go to my September posts and scroll down. For the second part of my post I would like to discuss my visions for my first animation. As far as the sounds go I am interested in repeating random noise clips and words over and over until the listener eventually starts to hear different things within the sound. So I plan on either saying something and looping it or finding a sound clip. As for my animation I am not planning on using my existing op art files because I hated them and I feel I can work better with a fresh canvas. As for the animation I plan on using a build up of many repeated sounds, just as with the music.

Motion Study

For my final imaging project I decided to further my studies of the human body in motion. This time i took a different approach. Inspired by the photos Edward Muybridge took I wanted to get a much older looking, over exposed, and grainy photo. I wanted the pictures to have an aged look about them and if I were to print them out I would probably get an old photo material.
